Contains a short memoir of Chappell's military history. Covers his enlistment, training, and combat experiences. Describes his role in guarding Japanese-American internment camps during his training, and his disgust for the institution. Provides accounts of his combat seen in Germany, including crossings of the Moselle and Rhine rivers, taking German fortified positions and prisoners of war, and guarding captured Nazi caches of stolen art and gold. Discusses the gratitude expressed by those whom his unit had liberated and the joy he received from serving others. Photograph shows Chappell in full military dress.
